DP WORLD AND RITES ENTER A MOU
India, 11th April 2025 – RITES Limited, a leading transport infrastructure consultancy and engineering firm, and DP World, announced a transformative Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore potential opportunities for collaboration in the development of trade, logistics, and infrastructure projects. The MoU aims to foster mutual collaboration by exploring joint opportunities in infrastructure development, including ports, multimodal logistics parks, free trade zones, rail connectivity projects, and logistics infrastructure services.
The MOU was signed in the presence of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, Shri Piyush Goyal, Honourable Minister of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. and HE Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DP World, along with Mr Rahul Mithal, Chairman & Managing Director of RITES Limited. The signing took place during the CEO- Connect: Dubai-India Economic Ties & Opportunities forum in Mumbai.
The Virtual Trade Corridor (VTC), launched in September 2024, is supported by MAITRI, a digital platform, developed with RITES. The Virtual Trade Corridor integrates customs, logistics, and regulatory processes into a single, seamless digital system to simplify and accelerate trade between the two nations. Since its launch, strategic workshops in India and UAE have led to key decisions, paving the way for scaling up the proof of concept of the VTC using Nhava Sheva, Deendayal, and Jebel Ali as nodal ports.
