Renewable Energy India Expo & The Battery Show
EXPO ON RENEWABLE ENERGY

Informa Markets in India, a leading B2B exhibitions organizer, is gearing up to present the much-awaited 17th edition of the Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo from October 3rd to 5th, 2024, at the India Expo Centre, Greater Noida. Concurrently, the 2nd edition of The Battery Show India will run alongside the REI Expo, creating a comprehensive platform for the renewable energy and electric vehicle (EV) sectors to converge.

Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, Informa Markets in India, saidIndia's ambitious goal of achieving 30% electric vehicle sales by 2030 places the EV industry at the forefront of the nation's mobility revolution, with around 4 million electric vehicles already in use, 95% of which are two and three-wheelers. At the same time, the renewable energy sector has witnessed significant strides, with installed capacity reaching 200 GW as of August 2024, alongside record solar investments and initiatives like the PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, benefiting millions of households.

As we prepare for The Battery Show India 2024 and REI Expo 2024, these events will not only spotlight India’s leadership in renewable energy and electric mobility but also act as key catalysts for industry-wide collaboration and innovation. By bringing together global stakeholders, startups, and policymakers, both platforms are instrumental in driving technological advancements, fostering sustainable practices, and reinforcing India's role as a global leader in energy transformation. The synergy between the renewable energy and battery sectors will continue to shape the nation’s journey towards a clean, electrified future, aligning with India’s long-term vision of sustainable growth and energy security, he further added.

Building on 16 years of success, the REI Expo has firmly established itself as Asia's premier event in the renewable energy sector. The 2024 edition will feature over 700 exhibitors, with 85% domestic and 15% international participation, including delegations from Germany and middle east. The event will showcase more than 850 brands and is expected to attract over 50,000 trade visitors. This year’s key focus areas include Solar Energy, Wind Energy, Bioenergy and Energy Storage. Prominent exhibitors include Reliance Industries, Adani Solar, Gautam Solar, EMMVEE, Vikram Solar, WAAREE, JSW Steel, Envision, and many others.

The REI Expo 2024 is supported by leading organizations such as the Indian Biogas Association (IBA), National Highway of Electric Vehicles (NHEV), Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), JMK Research, Bridge to India, Rajasthan Solar Association, Indo-German Energy Forum, Cleantech Business Club, pv Magazine, Yole Group, Wood Mackenzie, and BloombergNEF.

A standout feature of the event will be the “Advantage Rajasthan” session, helmed by Shri Heera Lal Nagar, Honourable Minister of Energy, State of Rajasthan, and taking center stage on the show floor. The event promises a rich lineup of activities, including CEO/CTO Conclaves, a three-day technical conference, an investor zone—executed in collaboration with T-Hub (Govt. of Telangana)—and over 40 conference sessions featuring more than 200 global speakers. Notable pavilions such as the Germany Pavilion and the Bioenergy Pavilion will provide valuable insights into the latest trends and innovations shaping the industry.

Running alongside the REI Expo, The Battery Show India 2024, will feature over 300 brands, 75 speakers, and attract more than 20,000 visitors from sectors such as Vehicle Makers, Battery Pack Assemblers, OEM Manufacturers, EV Charging equipment Providers, ESS product manufactures, Mobility solution providers and many more. Key exhibitors include Parker Lord, Saint Gobain, Thermo Fisher, iPower Batteries, Rubamin, Siemens, Asahi Kasei, Altmin, Dow Chemicals, Gujarat Fluorochemicals EV, Total Energies, Encore Systems, BASF, Marposs, and Arkema. The event is supported by prominent organizations like the National Highway of Electric Vehicles (NHEV), Ease of Doing Business, Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), Global Business Inroads (GBI), Bloomberg NEF, Wood Mackenzie, Yole Group, and Frost & Sullivan.

Key highlights of the event include CEO/CTO Conclaves, the Global Innovation Theatre, an Investor Zone, and a three-day Technical Conference. The theme for 2024, "Net Zero Strategies, Synergies, and Sustainable Growth," will guide sessions exploring the latest battery sector trends. Discussions will address topics such as India’s push to electrify its automotive sector, scaling battery energy storage systems to support a clean and reliable grid, and the EU-India EV Battery Recycling Technologies Exchange. Additionally, strategies for building resilient green infrastructure for clean mobility, with a focus on renewable-powered NHEV E-Highways and sustainable energy storage solutions, will be explored.

India's renewable energy sector, backed by government initiatives and a robust policy framework, is set to drive the country’s transition to clean energy, with a special focus on the integration of battery storage systems. The ambitious target of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030, led by solar and wind energy, aligns with the growing need for efficient energy storage solutions to ensure a stable and reliable grid. The battery industry plays a pivotal role in this transformation, with the EV market expected to surge from $34.8 billion in 2024 to $120 billion by 2030. Initiatives like the PM Surya Ghar scheme, which saw a 300% rise in residential solar installations, and the FAME scheme for electric vehicles, have not only boosted solar adoption but also laid the foundation for a sustainable energy ecosystem. Startups and private investments in battery manufacturing, energy storage, and EV technologies are expected to play a crucial role, contributing over $10 billion in the next three years, further positioning India as a leader in both the green energy and battery sectors.
