Toyota Kirloskar Motor Expands Toyota Anganwadi Development Program to Benefit 150 Anganwadi Centres in Karnataka
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) today announced the expansion of its highly successful Toyota Anganwadi Development Program (TADP) in partnership with the Government of Karnataka (GoK). Following the remarkable success of its initial phase, which saw the transformation of 30 model Anganwadi centres, TKM is set to scale up the program to benefit 150 Anganwadi Centres in Ramanagara District by the end of fiscal year 2023-2024. The event for this momentous expansion took place at the Zilla Panchayat Hall, Ramanagara, in the presence of approximately 150 Anganwadi teachers who have played a pivotal role in creating an environment for creative learning and development of children for the country’s sustainable future.
Distinguished guests for the event included Mr. Chikka Subbaiah, Deputy Secretary (Incharge) and Chief Planning Officer, Zilla Panchayat, Ramanagara; Mr. Narayanaswamy, Deputy Director of the Women and Child Development Department; Mr Sudeep S Dalvi, Senior Vice President, Director, and Chief Communication Officer, TKM, Mr. Roshan R, Deputy General Manager, EA-State, CSR & BIA, TKM, who graced the occasion with their presence.
TKM's TADP has significantly improved early childhood education and child development at Anganwadi Centres (AWC). It follows a comprehensive "4 Pillar Approach," focusing on Child-Friendly AWCs, Activity-Based Learning, Teacher Capacity Building, as well as Health & Hygiene. The program transforms Anganwadi Centres into child-friendly spaces, with enhanced aesthetics and infrastructure. It introduces innovative Activity-Based Learning, providing age-specific materials to engage children effectively, leading to improved attendance and participation.
Furthermore, the program invests in training Anganwadi teachers in preschool education, to enhance their teaching skills to benefit the young minds they nurture. Health and hygiene activities were emphasized, including hygienic cooking processes, with promoting kitchen gardens concept ensuring a fresh supply of fruits and vegetables. The success witnessed from implementation of these 4 pillars, demonstrates TADP's positive impact on children and communities and serves as a motivation for TKM to expand the initiative further.
